Earlier this month, the Bowral District Children’s Foundation (BDCF) celebrated an incredible milestone with our 20th Anniversary Platinum Ball, a standout event on the Southern Highlands fundraising calendar. Held in the iconic Frensham Dining Hall, the venue was elegantly transformed by event committee members Susie Reynolds, Jenny Bennell, and the dedicated Friends of the Foundation, led by Kim Funess. The space radiated sophistication, with a sleek platinum theme honouring two decades of commitment to improving children’s health and wellbeing in our region.

One of the night’s highlights was the auction of a breathtaking tanzanite and diamond ring, custom-designed and donated by Bowral Fine Jewellery. After some exciting last-minute bidding, the piece was secured, adding extra sparkle to an already unforgettable evening.
Throughout the night, guests were treated to:
A heartfelt welcome and moving address by BDCF President Skye Leicester, reflecting on the foundation’s achievements and impact over 20 years
A masterfully hosted evening by MC Michael Yabsley, whose warmth and humour brought the room together
An outstanding live performance by the 7-piece John Field Band, whose infectious energy had guests dancing before mains even arrived
A stunning winter menu by European Catering, serving up a seasonal feast that kept tables buzzing with conversation and connection
John Field Band had the crowd dancing all night long
Importantly, the event wasn’t just about celebration, it was about community support and future impact. Thanks to the generosity of our guests, sponsors and donors, the Platinum Ball raised significant funds to support BDCF’s ongoing programs and partnerships, including:
POP! In family support services
The Raise Foundation’s youth mentoring program
The Southern Highlands Wellbeing Collaborative
School-based programs from Batyr and The Butterfly Foundation
Services at the Bowral Hospital Paediatric Department
We extend our heartfelt thanks to our bronze, silver, and platinum sponsors, whose generous support helps fund vital wellbeing initiatives for children and young people in the Southern Highlands. We also thank Rachel Ware Photography for beautifully capturing the magic of the evening and helping us share these special moments with the wider community.
As we look ahead to another year of impact, we invite the community to join us at our next major event, the BDCF Annual Long Lunch in 2025, and stay up to date weekly by following us on social media @bdchildrensfoundation to continue supporting our mission to create a healthier, brighter future
for local families.
Together, we’re making a lasting difference in the Southern Highlands.
